About Us

HEROES RUN is the flagship event of the charity passingiton. passingiton was set up in 2004 by Matt Lambert and James Macdonald after having run the Dublin maratohn dressed up as Batman and Robin. At the time we were raising money for the Tenderfoot school to buy all the children there a pair of shoes. After really enjoying the marathon (especially the dressing up bit) we decided to set up a charity to help expand the Tenderfoot school. passingiton's aim is simple: we raise money to build schools and support education in some of the poorest areas of Africa.

Six years on we have fully expanded the Tenderfoot school in Kenya (£60,000 total), set up a new build for the Dreamlands school in Ghana (£110,00 over 3 years) and are about to start a new £125,000 project in conjunction with the Fesh Start Foundation to build a learning/community centre for the Kwinella First school in Kwinella, Gambia. For details of all these projects check out our official charity website.

HEROES RUN has expanded massively over the last 5 years. In our first year (2005) we attractd 241 runners and raised £4,125. Last year we had 1700 runners and raised over £31,000.
